Pinging Works Only One Way

I can ping my Samba server from Windows, but I cannot ping my Windows machine from the Samba server.

The Windows machine was at IP address with netmask, the Samba server (Linux) was at IP address with netmask The machines were on a local network with no external connections.

Due to inconsistent netmasks, the Windows machine was on network, while the Samba server was on network logically a different network.
