10.40.  Add Alpha Channel

The Add Alpha Channel command adds an alpha channel to the active layer. Without an alpha channel, a layer cannot have transparency or a layer mask. If the active layer already has an alpha channel (and it must, unless it is the bottom layer of the image), the menu entry is insensitive and grayed out.

10.40.1.  Activating the Command

  • You can access this command from the image menubar through Layer->Transparency->Add alpha Channel.
