6.5.2 The equivs package

If you compile a program from source, it is best to make it into a real local debianized package (*.deb). Use equivs as a last resort.

     Package: equivs
     Priority: extra
     Section: admin
     Description: Circumventing Debian package dependencies
This is a dummy package which can be used to create Debian
packages, which only contain dependency information.
