Upgrading Your System

The OpenSolaris 2008.11 release provides a simplified method to upgrade an existing OpenSolaris system. When you upgrade an existing system, the image is updated which means that all packages installed in the image are updated. There are two ways to upgrade your system :

Command-Line

Use the pkg image-update command. See the How to Update An Image (Update All Installed Packages) section to use the pkg image-update command.

Package Manager (IPS GUI)

See the The Package Manager (IPS GUI) to learn how to access the Package Manager.
