Q: How to install Accounting Application (GnuCash)?

  1. Read General Notes
  2. Read How to add extra repositories?
  3. sudo apt-get install gnucash
    sudo rm -fr /usr/share/gnome/apps/Applications/
    sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/GnuCash.desktop
  4. Insert the following lines into the new file
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=GnuCash
    Comment=GnuCash Personal Finance
    Exec=gnucash
    Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/gnucash/gnucash-icon.png
    Terminal=false
    Type=Application
    Categories=Application;Office;
  5. Save the edited file (sample)
  6. Read How to refresh GNOME panel?
  7. Applications -> Office -> GnuCash
